I am a retired, mother of four, with six grandchildren, living in Cinnaminson, N.J. with my husband John.
The love of art has been with me for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories take me back to the sun porch of my family home where a little box, filled with pieces of worn chalk, set alongside a blackboard. For hours I would create stories in my head while drawing images of my make believe characters and their surroundings.
Raised in a small town in the shadow of four older sisters, I always saw art as my strength and strived at school to be recognized for my passion. Little did I know back then how many people dedicated their entire lives to the arts and how their work would inspire me later in life.
For my four children, art was a natural part of growing up. Whether it was making costumes for a school play, painting totem poles for boy scouts, or gluing pinecones for holiday wreathes, they could always depend on me to have a project ready for them to participate in.
It seems that my entire life has been dedicated to others. When I was young, I was happy to be a stay at home mom, while raising my four children. Later, as need dictated, I went out into the work force and spent the next twenty four years employed in large shipping facilities, for the U.S. Postal Service.
Finally, it was my time, to spread my wings and realize a life long love of art. To start with an idea and a clean canvas; to fill the pallet with alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow and on and on. It gives me great pride and satisfaction when I finish a painting and it “talks” to me or better yet “sings” to me, with color and beauty that only an original piece of artwork can do.
I enjoy bringing my canvas to “life” and lean strongly toward realism.
